How to Start Selling on Marketplaces

Selling on Amazon can be divided in 3 parts- Seller registration, listings approval and launch. Here is a step by step guide to set up a store on Amazon.in-

Seller Registration-

1. Mobile No. Verification- Visit amazon seller Registration page <https://amzn.to/2KXUoV6>, give your mobile number/ email id and password.

2. Business Details- After registration give your business details like your business address, bank account details, return address, customer service no. etc. You may have to upload address proof and bank cancelled cheque for getting the approvals

3. Tax Details- You need to provide your GST no. along with GST certificate, if you are in Tax exempt category PAN card is required. Pls make sure that your pick up address is mentioned in the GST certificate, if not, you’ll have to get an APOB done.

4. Store Information- You can set your store name at this step and give a write up about your store. This information will be visible to the customers when they click on your store name

Listings Approval

5. Brand approval- If you are selling under your own brand name and have a TMC you can get your brand registered and start selling. Having a Trade mark certificate helps you create a brand store on amazon, list products with A+ content and helps avoid brand infringement cases in future.

6. UPC exemption- If your products have a UPC code, you can directly list your products if not you’ll have to apply for UPC exemption. Post approval you can start listing your products

7. Selling Under a brand not owned by you- In such a case you may have to provide Brand authorization letter or a valid purchase proof

8. Category Approval- Product listings are not allowed in some restricted categories like alcohol, animals and animal parts, drugs, weapons etc. Some categories like food, pharma, healthcare etc. require special approvals. You need to get these approvals before starting the listing process

9. Selling already listed product on Amazon- If the product you want to sell is already listed on the marketplace, you can easily add that product to your catalog by updating your selling price and available stock for that listing

10. Listing a new product- If your product is not available on Amazon.in, you’ll have to create a new listing. Make sure to follow amazon guidelines while creating the listings, otherwise they may get suppressed. Use an informative and appealing title, mention product features in bullet points and choose your keywords wisely to draw more traffic on your listings.
